Exceptionally nice 130 year old Spanish Colonial Coin from the Island of Puerto Rico! This coin was issued BEFORE the Spanish-American War when Puerto Rico was still a Spanish Colony. The front features the portrait of the young King of Spain Alfonso XIII. The back displays the Royal Coat of Arms of Spain flanked by 2 pillars wrapped with 2-shaped banners and is inscribed "La Isla de Puerto Rico". (pont of interest: the banners and pillars later became the U.S. Dollar sign!) The coin is struck in silver and approxtimately the size of a quarter. It remains in super near uncirculated condition in spite of being over 1 1/4 century old. The finest we have! Don't dare lose this important piece of Puerto Rican history!
